Casa Iglesia is a spacious, bright and airy village house which has been fully refurbished to a high standard without losing any of its original charm.
Our traditional village house is on a pedestrian street in the historic heart of Yunquera within a few minutes level walk of the Plaza, shops, bars and restaurants.There is also a colourful weekly outdoor market in the village.
The ground floor consists of a brightly furnished reception room and a spacious separate kitchen/diner which is fully equipped with everything you will need for a restful stay.
A staircase leads to the first floor bedrooms. A double bedroom with French windows onto the street, a separate single bedroom, and a bathroom.
A further flight of stairs leads to a comfortable sitting room with satellite TV, DVD, and music centre. Patio doors open from here onto the pretty roof terrace with spectacular open views of the village roof tops, mountains and surrounding countryside. There are cushioned reclining chairs for relaxing and enjoying the sun, also table and chairs for al fresco dining and watching the sun go down over the mountains.
There is heating for the cooler winter months.
The white village of Yunquera is situated in the heart of Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, high on a crag with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Yunquera preserves its traditional Spanish history and slower pacer of life and gives you a glimpse of the real Andalucia.
The Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park is an enchanting area to explore, with it’s spectacular hills mountains and valleys. This is a village for walkers, bird watchers and lovers of the quiet life. An area of outstanding beauty with its many trails, from gentle walks around the village to long hikes in the mountains.
Yunquera is on the migration route between Europe and Africa and there are many unusual varieties of birds to be seen, including eagles, kites and vultures. There are also many species of unusual flora and fauna to be found in the park. The hillsides are covered with citrus, olive, almond and fig trees, all irrigated by the water of natural springs and rivers.
All of this, together with the climate, makes Yunquera a perfect base for the curious traveller who wants to explore, or for those who just want to relax and enjoy the tranquil pace of life whilst sampling the experiences of traditional Spain.
Yunquera is a traditional hillside mountain village with steep and winding cobbled streets. The house is on three levels and therefore it may not be suitable for everyone.
Yunquera is ideally situated for exploring the historic Moorish cities of Andalucia. Seville, Córdoba and Granada are all within a 2½ hour drive from the village. In the winter months, the ski resort of Sierra Nevada is a 3 hour drive away.
The coast and its beaches, Marbella and the famous marina at Puerto Banus with its glamorous boutiques and nightlife are only an hour’s drive away.
Closer to home, the towns of Ronda, Antequera, Grazalema and Ubrique have much to offer, with their traditional architecture and a variety of shops and restaurants.
